Well what a season it’s been, it was most certainly the year of the Foxes
Going back to the start of the season we lost or first game to Rhydfelin 15-13 away from home.
That not seems such a long time ago especially with the congestion we had at the back end of the season due cancelled fixtures.
We have been very fortunate to have had a great squad this year which definitely helped us achieve everything that has been done at the club this year.
I don’t need to remind everyone about that elusive treble we won, which every club in Wales must be envious of.
First the Swalec Plate then the Division 1 East Champions and to cap it off the Silver Ball.
It seems a little surreal to watch the cup final back on the TV thinking that’s our small club lifting that trophy, but what a day that was for everyone involved, one I will certainly treasure forever.
Moving on to the Development team, they have also had a tremendous season lifting the Keith Jones cup and finishing runners up in the league, also gaining promotion for next season.
I would like to thank Alex Dummett for captaining the side on his last season, and what a way to finish his career, and I wish him all the best and I know he will still be involved at the club in one way or another.
The ladies team have not had the best seasons, with some heavy defeats, but they have also ground out some tough wins.
I also put that down to a lack of regular rugby, I am sure they will regroup and put that right next season.
Have to say the support has been fantastic this year, with us being in the Championship we need that to continue next season.
It’s crazy to think we will be playing the likes of the mighty Pontypool next season.
The season is now over but don’t forget we need everyone to support the club through the Summer, this is the hardest time for any rugby club financially, so I hope you all support us over the Summer.
We will be holding some great events, so please keep checking social media and the website for news.
I would like to thank the player’s coaches and support staff for this season, which will certainly go down in history, the treble may be completed again but it’s this special group of players that did it first.
You all deserve a well-earned rest and I am sure we will have a fantastic tour of New Orleans and Nashville, going there as Welsh Champions.
I would like to wish Robson Blake and Andrew Murphy all the best with their move to Bedwas, and just to let you know there will always be a place at Bedlinog Rfc for you.
I am deeply grateful to everyone for their assistance and guidance in just my 2nd year as Chairman, I have to thank my fantastic wife Justine who has helped and supported me through the season.
So I hope you have all enjoyed this season as much as I have, I think Craig Dummett his coaching team and players have created something special again, and we are one big family.
So thank you to everyone.
Paul Yoxall
Chairman Bedlinog Rfc
